Following up from Nick Knight, Matthew Williams is an art director and photographer that I came across as I was doing research on SHOWstudio (award-winning website founded and directed by Nick Knight). He was a Former Creative Director to Lady Gaga and the Haus of Gaga. Williams now works with Kanye West, Nick Knight and SHOWstudio amongst others. Williams is currently collaborating on projects with brands including Nike, Supreme and Stussy and lives between London, New York and Venice Beach California.
From observing his work, I believe that Matt Williams was highly inspired by Nick Knight. His work is almost similar but he also adds his own style to it. In comparison to Nick Knight, I believe that his work is more colourful and vibrant.
Below is a music video that Matthew Williams has directed for rapper Big Sean - Beware. The music video was named as one of "The 15 Best Hip-Hop Videos Of The Summer". This video particularly inspired me to research this artist.

Big Sean Ft. Lil Wayne & Jhene Aiko- Beware Directed By Matthew Williams:
I have screen printed a few shots that inspired and stood out the most to me in this video...
In this video, Matthew Williams has created images that portray infidelity and breaking up through digital distortions and 'datamoshing' to RGB-D styles. I believe that he has achieved this as the lyrics in the song represents relationship tensions between a male and female. These images have been immensely distorted and exaggerated to make the photographs stand out. He has shown this through the bright and vibrant use of colours. The female portrayed in these images appears in her usual fashion and earthy look, with her hair laid straight. I like the use of earthy settings such as Mountains that have been combined with the photographs. Lil Wayne’s verse (last verse) starts with a storm in the background, and continues with a darker tone than both of Big Sean’s verses, complimenting both of their personalities through the use of colours. The sharp edges and patterns seen on most of these images remind me of many peoples ideologies of relationships - heartbreak and being hurt. The sharp edges and outlines almost look like they're being stabbed with knives which could be a metaphor for being hurt in relationships.
I think that these images have been created with Adobe After Effects and possibly Photoshop.

This is another image created by Matthew Williams. In this image, the artist has used multiple colours which create a sort of rainbow effect. The black background brings out the colours on the females face. The dark background also consumes a small portion of the face which adds mystery to the photograph. The yellow colours used on the nose and part of the shoulder and neck create texture and add a 3D effect.
